Guiding Principles

Three principles guide Donate Life Northwest:

  1. A unified message
  2. A strong network
  3. Dynamic partnerships

A Unified Message:

Donate Life Northwest is the single agency in Oregon whose sole mission is to increase the number of organ, eye, and tissue donors by educating the general public and motivating individuals to designate themselves as donors by signing up on the Donor Registry. In 1992, Donate Life Northwest joined the national coalition, Donate Life America, that successfully partnered with the Ad Council to give local coalitions access to millions of dollars in donated creative services, media time and space. Campaign components include English and Spanish versions of radio and TV public service announcements, print ads for magazines and newspapers, billboards, transit ads for buses, subways and bus shelters.

Strong Network:

Donate Life Northwest Advisory Council is comprised of representatives from our member programs: Community Tissue Services, Lions Eye Bank of Oregon, Pacific Northwest Transplant Bank, and Pacific Northwest Regional Blood Services of the American Red Cross. Each member of the Advisory Council is responsible for providing technical support and current, factual information from their respective fields.

Dynamic Partnerships:

To optimize resources and further the mission of increasing donation, Donate Life Northwest is committed to building partnerships with other organizations, including Lane Memorial Blood Bank and the local transplant centers: Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center, Providence Portland Medical Center, Oregon Health & Science University and Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center.
